Sometimes police find traces of blood at the scene of a crime but they dont know who it come from. How can they even begin to find out? The best way to ascertain whose blood it is, is to compare it with a sample taken from the victim or the suspect.
There are times when police believe that they know who the blood belongs to, but they cannot find that person and therefore cannot do a blood match.
An investigation is more difficult if the police suspect that the blood came from a victim or perpetrator whose whereabouts is unknown. Today, science can assist. DNA taken from the blood left at the scene can be compared with DNA taken compulosrily from the genetic parents of the person they believe the blood belongs to. If it is their offspring, the DNA samples will be almost identical.
Do you think police should be able to take blood from the parents of suspects?
Give a full explanation to justify your thoughts.

I think the police should be able to take blood samples of the parents of victums or suspects beacause the parents would want to know what has happened to their son/daughter. Or if the son/daughter is a suspect if the parents want the best for their son/daughter they will try and find out for the polce where they are. If the parents refuse to take the blood test then the police should have the right to force them to, because the community needs to find and punish criminals because if one person gets away with something alot more crime scenes would emerge. We all want to live in a safe environment. JAMES B

I think that it should be their decision if the crime is not too serious but in other cases such mass murder i think that it is okay to take blood but if the person is over 18 (and he/she is likely to be than why can't they take blood from them?
However if the parents believe that their child is innocent then why then should let the police take their blood for testing. by denying the blood samples being taken from them could only arouse suspicion
I think that the police should be able to as long as they have permission from the people they're taking the blood from and don't just demand it from them.
Yes I think the police or forensic scientists should be able to take blood samples of the parents of a suspect. Because the blood may be needed to help solve a crime.
I think they should.
yes because if the child broke into the house and left some blood behind and the blood matched the parent then the parent should be tested in court why didnt he look after hi kid.
Topic: Blood Relationship
No they should do it in a more subtle way as the parents might warn their child/children that the authorities are after them.
if it helps to catch a dangerous criminal, then I think that police should be able to take blood. if they don't, they could be risking the lives of others. But the parents have certain rights, I think, so would this be a breach of those?
Yes because if they dont they wont know for sure who commited the crime.the parents may not like it and may want nothing to do with their child but it will help the police because you can tell from DNA if the suspect is male or female and how old he is
i think the police should be able to compare the suspects blood with thier parents so they can find out truely who the suspect really is.
Yes, because the children’s dna is identical to their parents.
I think police should be able to take blood from the parents of suspects because if they get the right blood, they will hopefully be able to identify and catch the suspect.
yes I think they sould do the blood test on the parents because the crime could be made a lot easier and therefore the parents should be willing to do this.
I think they should be allowed to take blood from people if the people they are taking blood from agree too.
Yes because That is the only way the police can match the blood so they solve the case
Yes I do belive that the police should be able to take blood samples because it is their job to stop crime. No matter how much the parents are against the law them being good parents they should contribute to helpinig New Zealand like every body else.
Yes because in a crime the friends and family of the victim are the main suspects and will want to take some samples. If police find some blood at the scene of the they will want to compare the samples.
I think they should give blood so they can find out if that purson had done that crim and then they can proscut them.
Yes because the police couldn't do anything else but guess work to solve the crime if they don't get the DNA samples from the parents blood.
Yes I think the police should be able to take the blood of the suspect’s parents. Because the suspect is on the loose and his whereabouts unknown so the police should have the authority to take samples of the parent’s blood to match them and possibly place the suspect at the scene of the crime.
